Microneedling Q&A

What is microneedling?

Microneedling is a nonsurgical and minimally invasive skin revitalization therapy. The technique creates small channels in the skin, causing tiny painless injuries. These channels stimulate elastin and collagen production to help tighten and lift your skin.

What does microneedling treat?

Microneedling helps address many skin-related issues, including:

  • Wrinkles
  • Scarring
  • Stretch marks
  • Rosacea
  • Acne
  • Skin pigmentation
  • Loose skin

At MD Aesthetic, the team consults with you to learn your aesthetic goals. Once decided, you can look forward to microneedling for skin revitalization and the complexion you desire.

What can I expect during a microneedling procedure?

Before your procedure begins, your esthetician applies a numbing cream to your face to minimize any discomfort during your treatment. Then, they clean your skin and start the procedure using their signature serum to deliver potent ingredients deep into the microchannels of your skin.

Microneedling puts tiny punctures into your skin to stimulate your body to produce new skin cells and prompt collagen growth. The needles break up pigmentation, damaged skin cells, and scar tissue. The damaged tissues then shed naturally or reabsorb harmlessly into your body.

After your procedure, your provider discusses after-care for your skin. It takes about 2-4 days for your skin to recover and a full week to see results.

What are the benefits of combining microneedling with platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy?

PRP is a newer treatment for managing many skin conditions and injuries. Your provider obtains PRP by taking a small amount of your blood and running it through a centrifuge to concentrate your platelets — growth factors that contain 4-8 times the concentration of your blood.

Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) can be used topically or injected during microneedling treatments to soften wrinkles and brighten skin. It can also be injected into your scalp to stimulate hair growth or into your joints to naturally stimulate repair and healing.

MD Aesthetics uses it topically to improve the effectiveness of microneedling. It helps naturally increase collagen production to enhance the quality of your skin and texture, making it appear glowing and youthful.
